An IT company in Santa Clarita is set to be a featured speaker at a Cyber Security Summit put on by the SCV Chamber of Commerce.
Scheduled to take place from 7:30-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday Nov. 6, with the location yet to be determined, Resurgence IT officials are gearing up to help provide education for members of upper management and business executives on taking action against cyber risks, said Owner Jeremy Stepan.
“I find that too many businesses still have got their head in the sand and they don’t want to accept the reality that we live in,” he noted. “We’ve got to make changes. We’ve got to do things to protect ourselves.”
At Resurgence IT, technical support experts specialize in helping businesses remain protected against cyber threats by “looking forward” on their clients’ behalf.
“You want your data protected, you want your computers protected, you want your clients protected,” Stepan said. “We want everything you do as a business to be protected.”
Most of the recent large-scale security breaches reported by the media were caused by failed security or computer software updates, according to Stepan.
“We’re getting alerts on our system every day, so every day we’ll see if a computer is out of date on virus protection or if computers aren’t getting their updates,” he said. “We’re pushing those on a weekly basis when they come out so we’re ahead of that game.”
